Chickadee Birdhouses..... have an entrance hole of 1 1/8". The floor dimensions should be 4"X4" and be mounted from 6 feet to 15 feet off the ground. During the winter do not clean out the Chickadee birdhouses. These birds will roost in the houses during cold winter nights and the old nest helps to insulate and keep these birds alive. It is best to clean out the old nest in later February and early March.
Chickadees will mate and develop a territory of about 10 acres during the breeding season from March until August. Make sure to hang your new houses up during this time. Wren and Chickadee houses are approximately the same size, shape and hole size. So put up Chickadee Birdhouses and give the clowns of the bird world a place to raise their young.
