Bluebirds..... have been in sharp decline for many years. These beautiful birds were once in abundance. But with the loss of their natural habitat, and the growth in population of sparrows, bluebirds lack the habitats to reproduce.
We can help by putting up Bluebird Houses and monitoring them to keep the sparrows out. Bluebird houses should be put 4 to 6 feet off the ground in a clearing. They should be no closer than 100 yards to each other. Bluebirds are territorial. Place your bluebird houses in the edge of clearings or along fence lines.
Putting up Bluebird Feeders is important. Bluebirds eat insects, but love mealworms, blueberries, nuts, and many other types of berries. Feeding in a bluebird feeder allows the bluebird a safe place from its larger predators. Many bluebirds will bring their young to a feeder once established. The young bluebirds will return, as adults.
