Purple Martin Houses..... should be set 10-15' off the ground and should be white, or painted white. Purple Martins are social birds and your purple martin house should be placed within 100 feet of your house but there should not be a tree or wire lines within 40 feet of their houses. You must keep all vines and shrubs away from the your purple martin house. Purple Martins do not like to have the greenery, trees, shrubs or vines near their houses.
